UPDATE ON COVID-19
As a mission agency responsible for mobilizing thousands of short-term missionaries to serve children and families in Nicaragua, we take very seriously the health and safety of our teams. We appreciate the trust you have placed in us. Through the years, the Lord has guided us through hurricanes, political turmoil, the zika virus, and more. Now, we find ourselves in a unique situation concerning COVID-19. As Christ-followers, we remember that God is with us, and we should cast our cares on the Lord because He cares for us – I Peter 5:7.
HOW ARE THINGS IN NICARAGUA?
As of this date, there are less than 100 reported cases of Coronavirus in Nicaragua. Health officials are taking many precautions to keep it from spreading further. Families in our barrios are mostly unaffected except that the economy is even worse than before. We have quickly responded to the situation by increasing food supplies to families, hand-making facial masks, filling bottles of hand soap, and much more. Be sure to follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube for the latest info.
WHAT ABOUT UPCOMING MISSION TRIPS?
Earlier this March, we made the difficult decision to suspend all mission trips through June as a result of travel advisories that were issued by the US State Department. This does not affect summer and fall mission trips at this time.
We are continuing to monitor the situation through information provided by the CDC, WHO, and the State Department. As new data arrives, we will continue to update you with a definite step forward.
We continue to prayerfully prepare for a great season of ministry this summer and fall!
We understand that airlines have presented some challenges concerning upcoming flights. We HIGHLY encourage you to contact our Travel Partner James Cole at High Point Travel (www.highpointgo.com). email@example.com or 972-284-1325. MAKING SENSE OF TRAVEL ADVISORIES
The US State Department currently has a temporary Global Health Level 4 Advisory in place. This does not mean people cannot travel, only that they do not recommend it. Airlines still have flights to countries based on their own criteria. Although there are a handful of countries that are restricted - Nicaragua is not one of them. That said, we don't minimize these advisories at all. We do look at a number of factors when making decisions about sending teams - observations from our team in Nicaragua, travel advisories, airlines, consultation with our mission partners and more.
WHAT CAN YOU DO NOW?
Please join us in praying for those who are impacted by COVID-19. We sincerely desire to see all ministries continue shortly as the people of God care for their communities and share the hope of the Gospel.
Chosen Children Ministries' entire ministry is supported almost exclusively by the $650 land fee paid by each team member. When teams are not coming to serve, we are not able to continue providing food, medical care, education, Biblical discipleship, housing, and much more for children and families in Nicaragua. Now more than ever, THEY DESPERATELY NEED YOUR HELP.
Will you please consider a tax-deductible financial gift to help us continue feeding children, providing medical care, and supporting our local Pastors and churches?
